Liverpool's last bid was a package that totalled around £109.6million, but it was knocked back as Leverkusen value Wirtz at £126m.
Talks are ongoing between the two clubs and it is widely expected that they will reach an agreement, with the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich having pulled out of the race for the 22-year-old.
